Love the jewelry but hate the tangled mess and searching for lost earrings? Organize jewelry and keep dresser clutter free and decorated with these ideas.
If you are tired of the tangled chains and missing earrings, it’s time to organize the bling so you can find the jewelry pieces you’re looking for. As an added bonus, this simple DIY organizing project will clean the clutter off of dresser surface, giving the bedroom an updated look.
Raid Kitchen Cabinets for Jewelry Holders
The kitchen is usually the best place to find common household items that can be re-purposed into decorative jewelry holders. Raid the kitchen cabinets, but look at the items in a different light. For example, a tiered cookie tray makes a perfect landing place for necklaces and bracelets. An upright paper towel holder that is designed to sit on the kitchen counter can sit on a dresser to hold a stack of bracelets or chunky cuff jewelry.
Small, decorative saucers designed to fit under tea cups make the perfect size holder for rings. Use a matching tea cup and saucer for the job or line up three saucers to create decorative ring holders. A plastic ice cube tray holds earrings and keeps pairs together. Just slip the ice cube tray inside a dresser drawer to keep down clutter.
Frame and Hang Jewelry
A unique way to add dresser décor and organize jewelry is to a large picture frame (11” x 14” works nicely) remove back and glass, then replace with a radiator grille or window screen cut to fit the frame. Either material can be purchased inexpensively at a hardware store, pick up several ‘S’ hooks while at the hardware store too.
Place the radiator grille or screen wire in the frame, insert S hooks at varying intervals and hang jewelry, like necklaces and bracelets, from S hooks. Earrings can be suspended directly from the grille or screen, just insert earring through the material and place back on earring to hold in place. Stand frame upright on dresser, near the back, and allow to lean against the wall for stability. The picture frame and insert material (plastic radiator grille or screen wire) can be spray painted to match bedroom décor if desired.
If creating a picture frame to hang jewelry from is more DIY work than desired, use small cups hooks instead. Purchase several small cup hooks (available from hardware or big box retail stores) and screw the cup hooks directly into the wall near dresser. Hang jewelry from cup hooks for easy access. The ‘Command’ brand of hooks uses an adhesive to hold hooks to the wall, which is a jewelry hanging option that will leave no nail holes in wall.
